    • Philip R. Krieg, 93, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March16, 2013, at the Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in CedarFalls, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday,March 23, 2013, at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Rev. KarenGarrison will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kingsley Cemetery.Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at theJohnson-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. The family will be presentfrom 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Therewill also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeralservice on Saturday.

      Philip Richard Krieg was born on December 8, 1919, in Oak Harbor,Washington, the son of Karl and Hilma (Wahlgren) Krieg. He attended OakHarbor schools, where he graduated Salutatorian of his class. Hecontinued his education at the University of Washington until World WarII interrupted his college education. Phil served in the US Army AirCorps as a navigator and was involved in numerous missions in thePacific Theater. He rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. On March 2,1945, Philip and Celesta Maxine Featherston were united in marriage ather parents' home. The couple made their home near Kingsley, wheretogether they farmed and raised their five children. In later yearstheir winters were spent in Queen Valley, Arizona. Phil was a member ofthe Kingsley United Methodist Church. Phil and Celesta enjoyed golfing,dancing, and socializing with fellow snowbirds.

      Phil will be lovingly remembered by his sons, John and Karen of NorthPole, Alaska, Ken and Sandy of Kingsley, Jim and Kathy of Cedar Falls,and Dave and Shelly of Kingsley; a daughter-in-law, Ann of Scottsdale,Arizona; 16 grandchildren, Jenny Solis, Chad Krieg, and Kyle Bradish(children of Phil, Jr.), Maggie Samson, Todd Krieg, and Rachel St. John(children of John), Kevin Krieg, Kim Knaack, and Chris Krieg (childrenof Ken), Becky Sinram, Michael Krieg, and Katie Krieg (children of Jim),and Alisha Krieg, Korey Krieg, Kelsey Krieg, and Kyler Krieg (childrenof Dave); 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He waspreceded in death by his parents; wife, Celesta on March 14, 2012; ason, Phil, Jr., on December 24, 2007; and five siblings, Buster (Ester),Johnny (Frances), Lorna (Marian), Ruby (Hal) and Ron Krieg.
