I have worked back from a marriage of a William Featherstone cir 1868. married to a Lucy Sheppard 8th May 1894 in Seaton & Beer Parish Church. His father is a John a joiner. You have John's Father as a George- How did you make that link- since he does not appear on any of the census records together. Regards W Paul Hi Paul, I didn't have the marriage on my tree but have just matched it up. William is Wiliam Henry Somerfield Featherstone b1868 in Bishops Tawton. His parents are John Henry Featherstone b1840 in Wear Gifford and he married Elizabeth Somerfield. John Henry's parents are George Featherstone b1814 Roborough and Catherine Mounce. Their son George Lewis b.1848 Wear Gifford is my gg grandfather. John and George do not appear on the census together because George was a coachman and servant and Catherine was always living nearby with the children. On the 1841C they were living in Thornbury and George is in Horwood, on the 1851C George is in Pinhoe and the family are in Bishops Tawton where they remained.
