Recently preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mary McKernan. He attended Iowa State University and received his degree from Westmar College in 1970. Phil married Ann (Ostdiek) Bradish, 11/2/86 inKauai, HI. They lived and worked in Omaha and moved to Scottsdale in 1987. He was founder and CEO of Enterprise HealthCare Systems & MDPlus software in the Phoenix area. Phil's passions were family, friends, business, golf and was and avid classic car buff.

    Philip R. Krieg, 93, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Rev. Karen Garrison will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2013, at the Johnson-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. The family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
    Philip Richard Krieg was born on December 8, 1919, in Oak Harbor, Washington, the son of Karl and Hilma (Wahlgren) Krieg. He attended Oak Harbor schools, where he graduated Salutatorian of his class. He continued his education at the University of Washington until World War II interrupted his college education. Phil served in the US Army Air Corps as a navigator and was involved in numerous missions in the Pacific Theater. He rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. On March 2, 1945, Philip and Celesta Maxine Featherston were united in marriage at her parents' home. The couple made their home near Kingsley, where together they farmed and raised their five children. In later years their winters were spent in Queen Valley, Arizona. Phil was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Phil and Celesta enjoyed golfing, dancing, and socializing with fellow snowbirds.

    Phil will be lovingly remembered by his sons, John and Karen of North Pole, Alaska, Ken and Sandy of Kingsley, Jim and Kathy of Cedar Falls, and Dave and Shelly of Kingsley; a daughter-in-law, Ann of Scottsdale, Arizona; 16 grandchildren, Jenny Solis, Chad Krieg, and Kyle Bradish (children of Phil, Jr.), Maggie Samson, Todd Krieg, and Rachel St. John (children of John), Kevin Krieg, Kim Knaack, and Chris Krieg (children of Ken), Becky Sinram, Michael Krieg, and Katie Krieg (children of Jim), and Alisha Krieg, Korey Krieg, Kelsey Krieg, and Kyler Krieg (children of Dave); 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Celesta on March 14, 2012; a son, Phil, Jr., on December 24, 2007; and five siblings, Buster (Ester), Johnny (Frances), Lorna (Marian), Ruby (Hal) and Ron Krieg.

    AgCelesta M. Krieg, 86, of Kingsley, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Kingsley United Methodist Church. Rev. Roger Kurtenbach will officiate. Burial will follow at the Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will start at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at the Johnson-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.     Celesta Maxine Featherston was born on May 27, 1925, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Gregg and Mabel (Dempster) Featherston. Celesta graduated from Union High School, rural Remsen, Iowa, and attended Wayne State Teacher's College in Wayne, Nebraska. On March 2, 1945, Celesta and Philip Krieg were united in marriage at her parents' home. The couple made their home near Kingsley, where together they farmed and raised their five children. In later years winters were spent in Queen Valley, Arizona. Celesta and Phil enjoyed golfing, dancing, and socializing with other snowbirds.

    Celesta was a past member of Union Presbyterian Church, where she taught Bible and Sunday School. She was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church. Celesta was also a past member of P.E.O. She was proud to be the wife of a farmer. One of her greatest joys was cooking for and entertaining family and friends. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Celesta will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Philip; sons, John and his wife Karen of North Pole, Alaska, Ken and his wife Sandy of Kingsley, Jim and Kathy of Cedar Falls, IA, and Dave and Shelly of Kingsley; a daughter-in-law, Ann of Scottsdale, AZ; 16 grandchildren, Jenny Solis, Chad Krieg, and Kyle Bradish, (children of Phil, Jr.), Maggie Samson, Todd Krieg, and Rachel St. John (children of John), Kevin Krieg, Kim Knaack, and Chris Krieg (children of Ken), Becky Krieg, Michael Krieg, and Katie Krieg (children of Jim), and Alisha Krieg, Korey Krieg, Kelsey Krieg, and Kyler Krieg (children of Dave); 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.     Gregg Featherston, Bailiff, Councilman, Cattle Feeder, Dead at 83 of Injuries

    'Gregg Featherston, 83, lifelong Plymouth county resident, and former longtime LeMars city councilman, died Saturday (April 16, 1977) a week after being injured in a 1-car accident north of Kingsley. Mr. Featherston was traveling on the Kingsley-Hinton road Good Friday when he lost control of his car and went into a ditch. He sustained a fractured leg and facial cuts and bruises. Mr. Featherston was hospitalized at Sioux City St. Luke's medical center since that time. He was born Oct. 1, 1893, in Union township to John and Leticia (sic--Lettia) Croston Featherston. He was a graduate of Union township school where he later served on the school board for a number of years. He also attended Western Union college, now Westmar. Mabel Dempster and Mr. Featherston were married Dec. 29, 1915, in LeMars. They farmed in Union township until they retired to LeMars in 1949. He was also a well-known, prominent cattle feeder. Mrs. Featherston died May 5, 1969. Mr. Featherston maintained his own apartment at 129 9th St. SE in LeMars. He served for 17 years as district court bailiff at the court house in LeMars. Prior to that time he served as a LeMars city councilman. While living on the farm in Union township he was a member of the Union township consolidated school board. Mr. Featherston was a member of the Methodist church, LeMars Masonic lodge, Sioux City consistory, Abu Bekr shrine, Order of the Eastern Star and LeMars Elks club. He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Elmer, Walter and Fred, and two sisters, Katherine Kitterman and Cora Payne. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mauer funeral chapel, LeMars. Rev. Everett Staats will officiate and burial will be in LeMars Memorial cemetery. Survivors are his children, Lauren and Virginia Featherston, Peoria, Ill.; Gerald and Nina Featherston, LeMars; Philip and Celesta Krieg, rural Kingsley. There are 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.'

    Obituary--Mrs. Gregg Featherston

    'Mrs. Gregg (Mabel B.) Featherston, 79, who lived at 400 North Lynn Drive, died at Floyd Valley hospital after an illness of several months. Mabel Dempster was born Jan. 21, 1890, at rural LeMars. She was a lifelong resident of the county and farmed with her husband before moving to LeMars in 1949. Mr. Featherston has been bailiff in district court, LeMars, until his recent retirement. Her marriage to Gregg Featherston took place Dec. 29, 1915, in LeMars. Her parents were the late John and Phoebe Hodgson Dempster. Funeral services will be at the Mauer funeral chapel. Rev. Milo Morris will officiate and burial will be in LeMars memorial cemetery. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Featherston was a member of the First United Methodist church in LeMars, Garfield chapter, OES, and past matron of the Kingsley and LeMars OES. Survivors are her husband, Gregg, LeMars; children, Lauren and Virginia Featherston, Peoria, Ill., Gerald and Nina Featherston, rural Kingsley, and Philip and Celesta Krieg, rural Kingsley; there are nine grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Reeves and Mrs. Bertha Tucker, both of LeMars, and Mrs. Laura Featherston, Oak Park, Ill., and Mrs. Marion Kiest, Spring City, Tennessee She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.'     Obituary--John Featherston Claimed By Death Resident In County Nearly Sixty Years

    'John Featherston, 83, widely known farmer and prominent citizen in Plymouth county for nearly three score years, died at his home 700 Central Avenue, SE, Monday, December 1, following a three days illness caused by a heart attack. John Richard Featherston was born at Meherrin, Virginia, November 2, 1858, and when a young man came to Iowa and settled- in Jones county. He was married March 10, 1880, at Cascade, Iowa, to Letitia Croston. They came to Plymouth county in 1882 and bought a farm in Union township where they lived until retiring to make their home in Le Mars. Mr. Featherston is survived by four sons and two daughters, Walter, living at home, Mrs. W. R. Payne, Benton. Harbor, Mich., Fred, of Union township, Mrs. E. S. Kitterman of Kingsley, Gregg Featherston of Union township, Elmer Featherston of Chicago. There are eight grandchildren. His wife and and infant daughter preceded him in death. Mr. Featherston was a member of the Methodist church. The funeral was held at the Mauer funeral chapel, Rev. W. M. Hubbard officiating, and interment made in the city The pallbearers were R. C. Bartels, R. S. Bowers, R. M. Figg, C. P. Kistle, R J. M. Long and C. C. Woodke. John Featherston was a fine citizen possessed of integrity and honor and lived a life worthy of emulation.     Settled in Union Township Over Fifty Years Ago

    'Mrs. Featherston aged 76, wife of John Featherston, pioneer resident of Plymouth county, died Thursday evening at her home, 700 Central Avenue SE, after an illness of long duration. Mrs. Featherston had lived here for the past fifty years and was widely known and esteemed in all circles of life. She was a native of Iowa and was a daughter of John and Lettie Croston, pioneers in the eastern part of the state. Mrs. Featherston, whose maiden name was, Lettie Croston, was born at Cascade, Iowa, April 2, 1867, where she grew to young womanhood and received her early education in Cascade and helped in the work of the home. She was united in marriage March 10, 1880, with John R. Featherston. They took up their home on a farm near Monticello following their marriage where they lived for two years. Mr. and Mrs. Featherston came to Le Mars in February, 1882, and settled on a farm in Union township where they lived many years, retiring from the farm to live in Le Mars twenty years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Featherston, while living in Union township, were active in community, civic and church work and are among the noble band of pioneers who have helped build up this country. Their lives of energy, self-denial and constructiveness stand out as beacon lights for younger generations. Helpfulness honesty and rectitude mark their path in life and have gained them the esteem and friendship of all who know them. Mrs. Featherston leaves to mourn her passing her husband, John Featherston and children, who are: Walter, of Le Mars; Mrs. W. R. Payne, of St. Joseph, Mich.; Fred Featherston, of Union township; Mrs. E. S. Kitterman, of Kinglsey; Elmer J. Featherston, of Chicago. There are eight grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. L. A. Lehner of Brookings, S. D. and Mrs. Mamie Fagan and two brothers, James Croston, of Garretson, S. D. and Will Croston, of Cascade, Iowa. Funeral Held Saturday--Mrs. Featherston was a life long member of the Methodist church and active in the work of the church and its kindred societies. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon in the First Methodist church, Rev. F. E. Burgees officiating and was largely attended by friends and old neighbors.'
